Yanai Tadashi (born February 7, 1949, in Ube, Yamaguchi Prefecture) is a Japanese billionaire entrepreneur and the founder, chairman, and CEO of Fast Retailing Co., Ltd., the parent company of UNIQLO.

After graduating from Waseda University, he joined his father clothing company Ogori Shoji and opened the first UNIQLO store in Hiroshima in 1984. Under his leadership, UNIQLO grew into one of the world largest fashion retailers, known for high-quality, affordable basics like HeatTech, AIRism, and Ultra Light Down.

Yanai is known for his relentless drive for change, famously saying that maintaining the status quo is regression. His books, including One Win, Nine Losses (2003), reveal a philosophy built on embracing failure, constant self-renewal, and thinking globally from day one.
